What is the Best Season to Go?
Cherry blossom is a spectacular event in any country. But in Japan it is something even more special.
"Hanami" is the centuries-old festival, when people go with their families, friends or work colleagues to parks and gardens. They enjoy this short-living beauty while picnicking and drinking under a blooming Sakura (cherry) tree.
Japan has a wide variety of cherry, well over 200 cultivars with white, pink and dark-pink flowers. Trees are specially planted for this particular purpose: two weeks of spectacle each year.
Not only cherry blossom, but also peach trees
and the amazing tricolour tree – Hanamomo are also in blossom.
Artists are in a hurry to capture this natural beauty on their canvases.
Musicians play, sometimes very amazing and unusual music.
You will be naturally melted into this festival atmosphere, just like me...

Believe it or not, but this ancient tree with propped up branches is two thousand years old!
